Storm Trysail Club Block Island Race
Steve Cain's First 36.7 Shooting Star took first place in the IRC 30 division and third overall in IRC in the Block Island Race that started on May 22nd. Shooting Star was the first boat in the class to cross the finish line, taking just over 27 hours to complete the 186 NM course.
Skipper's Plan ABYC Regatta
The Skipper's Plan Ashbridge's Bay Yacht Club Regatta was held the weekend of May 23-24 in Toronto. Maggie Kelly, a First 40.7 owned by Chris Steer, took second place in IRC 1, finishing just one point out of first place behind a Farr 30. Calum Semple's First 10R Sona took third place in the IRC 2 fleet, just half a point out of second place.
The First 36.7 Class had seven boats racing, with Brian Rutter and his team aboard Neptune's Car taking first place in a tie breaker with Erik Yeo's Family First. The two boats were tied with 16 points apiece. Rory Ring's Sexy Beast finished in third with 19 points.
Charleston to Bermuda Race
Jay Cook's Beneteau 423 Tohidu was announced as the overall winner of the 2009 Charleston to Bermuda race on corrected time. The race, which started on May 29th, was called before any of the boats crossed the finish line due exceeding to the time limit set for the race
