Classes four and six in the St. David’s Lighthouse IRC division belong to the Beneteau First Series in the 2010 Newport to Bermuda Race. Arbella, a First 44.7 owned by Jim Shaughnessy took first place in class six, and third overall in IRC. “We had a great ride down. The 44.7 remains an IRC machine as evidenced by her third overall in fleet in IRC behind two custom boats,” said Shaughnessy. Also in class six, the First 53f5 Relativity owned by Hall Palmer finished third.
Class four saw Beneteaus take first through third. Lapin, a First 40.7 owned by Christopher Clark, finished in first, finishing just ten minutes ahead of second place finisher John DiFillipo’s First 40.7 The Jackal on corrected time. Scott Bearse’s First 44.7 Slide Rule took third.

There were 13 Beneteau First 36.7s that sailed in the Toronto Area Hospice Regatta the weekend of June 19-20th. The First 36.7 class was well represented, as it was the largest one design fleet in the regatta by far.
Neptune’s Car, took first place and finished with a tally of 25 points after seven races. Brian Rutter and his crew won a hard fought regatta which saw the top three podium places separated by only five points. Jeffrey Long’s Shane Returns finished in second with 28 points, narrowly edging out third place finisher Gary Tisdale aboard First Today by just one point.
2010 Chicago NOOD Regatta

There were nearly 30 Beneteaus racing in this year’s Chicago NOOD Regatta, with Robert Vickery’s First 40.7 Collaboration2 taking first place overall honors for the regatta!
The eleven boat First 40.7 fleet saw the top four boats finish within five points of one another. Collaboration 2 finished with a total of 21 points, just ahead of second place finisher Vayu, owned by Ronald Buzil. Mojo and La Tempete tied for third with 25 points apiece, with Mojo winning the tie breaker, thus dropping La Tempete to fourth.
The First 36.7 class was dominated by Dan and Peter Wright’s Maggie Mae. They finished the weekend in five bullets in six races, very impressive! Tried & True, owned by Robert Foley finished in second place, and Steven Pelke’s Stingray took third.
