Launched in 2006, the First 50 set a new benchmark for the First range. The many awards received worldwide since its launch, reflect its huge success. That momentum now continues with the launch of the First 45.

The First 45 made its world premiere at the Paris Boat Show in December and recently made its American debut at Strictly Sail Pacific in Oakland.

Its purity of line, now-famous attributes (“eye-lid” cabin brow and flush hatches), sleek, aggressive profile, hull balance when heeled and high-precision 2-wheel helm all give this 45-footer the qualities so admired in its big sister.

This new First is designed for lovers of fast, comfortable cruising, with attributes that include a spacious, highly-functional and welcoming interior crafted from contemporary cabinetry, upholstery and material finishes (a combination of light oak, contrasting deeptones, leather and stainless steel), uncluttered deck plan, multiplicity of stowage lockers and uninterrupted forward vision.

Designed in close cooperation between Beneteau and Philippe Briand Yacht Design, the First 45 is offered with extensive cruising equipment as standard. In the Sport version, the key words are Seduction and Comfort, while a Regatta version is focused on performance for a program geared more toward racing.

There’s a choice of keel (shallow-draft cast iron as standard and lead deep-draft in option) for all versions, to suit everyone’s needs and all geographical areas.

The First 45 participated in its first races at La Trinite Sur Mer in February immediately following its launch straight from the factory. “Lady Courier” was delivered from Lorient to La Trinite the day before the start of the Spring regattas.

Philippe Briand the designer had this feedback after the two races. “I have been impressed by the performances and the potential, especially upwind. We started the 2 races at the pin end to the lee of the fleet, and after a few minutes we were leading, having crossed all the fleet. We rounded the weather mark first in both two races. The helm is smooth, precise, and the boat accelerates on each puff, heeling slightly to make the aft chine skimming the water’s surface.” Gery Trentesaux, the Skipper and previous owner of a First 44.7 said. “Compared with my previous First 44.7, I have been impressed during this first sailing -Build quality looked great -I did like the comfort and new interior design, although I am pretty conservative! - The cockpit layout is more efficient for the crew work - The upwind performances are impressive in this wind range, despite non overlapping head sails.”

Combining comfort and design for cruising with higher performance for racing, there’s little doubt that the FIRST 45 will be even more FIRST than ever!
